Nowadays you can buy all sorts of smart devices for your home. If you are a person that just loves all the new tech gadgets you’ve probably already purchased a few. On the other hand, if you haven’t quite made that jump, there are a few devices that will actually save you money and are worth making the jump!

Smart Thermostats

Smart home thermostats save the average home owner between $130 and $145 per year. Smart thermostats allow you to control the temperature of your home from anywhere with an app. Many also have the ability to detect hot and cold spots in your home making smart temperature adjustments to save energy.

These thermostats often even have a learning mode which learns what temperatures you like your home to be at, and when. You can monitor you energy usage and save on your heating and air conditioning bills by adjusting your temperatures for different times of the day such as lowering or raising the temperatures when no one is home.

Smart Home Lighting

Adding smart lighting and smart light bulbs can save you around $75.00 per year. For homes with children where lights are inevitably left on, they can save you even more. On top of the energy savings, with some lighting solutions you can control the intensity of the light and sometimes even the color. Away on vacation? Use smart lighting to turn on and off lights to make it appear as if you are home!

WiFi Motion Sensors

Motion sensors work in conjunction with other smart home devices such as lighting and smart plugs. They can save you up to 30% of your annual energy bill by sensing when someone enters a room. You can set automatic actions to happen such as turning the lights off if no motion has been detected for a specified period of time. Now that’s smart!
